Effie Cherrington's Obituary
Effie Sargent Cherrington passed away on November 15, 2013 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Effie was born November 6, 1919, the second child of William Frederick and Rhoana Sargent in Panguitch, Utah.
Effie is survived in death by her children Kim (Pam) Cherrington, Barbra Kessinger and Debra Kohler, her grandchildren Brett (Lacey), Riley (Courtney), Nick (Shannah), Eliza, and nine great-grandchildren. Effie attended Garfield County High School where she played tuba in her high school marching and dance bands. She graduated high school with honors. Effie was a faithful member of the LDS church. She spent many years of service in the church, including five years working in the Provo temple. Effie married Bob Cherrington, who also grew up in Panguitch. They married in Riverside, California while Bob was in the army. Later Effie and Bob were sealed in the Manti Temple with their three children – Kim, Barbra, and Debra. Effie traveled to many places with her sister Lucille. Together they went to England, Europe, China, New Zealand and Australia. When Lu was diagnosed with cancer Effie spent many years taking care of her. Effie also took great care of her grandson Nick, raising him as if he were her own son. Effie loved Nick very much and it was Nick who she trusted to take care of her in her final six years. Effie loved having Nick continue to love and care for her in her home. She found great joy from Nick’s children, her great-grandchildren, Robbie and Annica. Effie’s family would like to thank all of the wonderful hospice workers from Gentiva Hospice.
