Eileen Martha Wood Burr's Obituary
Eileen Martha Wood Burr, 75 years old, passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2024. Eileen was surrounded by her children as she died after her 2-year battle fighting Breast Cancer.
She was born on May 1st, 1949. She grew up in a home where Christian views were not the standard with her siblings on a farm in Oregon. She loved her siblings and her mother. Her father was not really an active part of her and her siblings life. Eileen encouraged her siblings and mother to find their own testimony of the Savior on their own. Eileen has spent the majority of her life in Oregon and for the last 2 years, she has been living in Utah with her son and daughter-in-law. She loved her family deeply and always stayed in touch with each of them.
Eileen was in her 20s when she became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since then, Eileen was a strong and highly active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her life, she served in many church callings and the ones that she enjoyed the most was Primary Teacher, and she also served on the Primary Presidency in her local ward. Eileen loved helping and serving others. Eileen had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ, the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Plan of Salvation. She is known for always humming or singing a hymn under her breath as she did her house chores or watched the sunset.
She has spent more than 40 years as an In-Home Caregiver. She loved helping other loved ones receive and give assistance, help, and encourage independence and giving kind words of wisdom to all she came in contact with. Eileen enjoyed being of service to those under her care. She consistently helped, served, and assisted others no matter the circumstances. She uplifted those around her. She retired when she was 65 and she got to spend time doing what she loved; Shopping at farmers markets, thrift stores, or fairs always looking for a bargain. She can find you anything for a good price.
Some of Eileen’s favorite hobbies were rocking in a rocking chair for hours on end either watching the sky or listening to her favorite radio shows. Some of her favorite radio shows were Dr. Dobson show called Focus on the Family and The Christian program. She enjoyed reading or listening to the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon on tape. She loved animals but especially birds. She used to have some canaries as pet birds, and she adored them. She has two granddaughters who are here pride and joy.
Eileen is known for remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and other important life events. She always sent a card or a letter full of words of encouragement and wisdom.
Eileen was preceded in death by her mother; Elizabeth Wood, father; Floyd Wood, one of her ex-husbands; Robert Huff, her grandparents, her aunts and uncles, and her stillborn son (Darold Huff).
