Elaine Gilley Boccagno's Obituary
Elaine Gilley Boccagno passed away at home on December 1, 2020. She was a wonderful partner, daughter, sister, mother, and friend. She was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), rare neurological illness, which she fought courageously for several years. As she said, she was sick of being sick and was ready to just be done.
Elaine was born April 28, 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ruth Breeze Gilley and Charles Gilley. When she was young, she took dancing lessons, which she enjoyed and was very good at. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1975 where she enjoyed participating in gymnastics. Elaine married Steve Boccagno on November 25, 1986 and later divorced. Their daughter Hillary Paige was born in 1991. Elaine met Al Soucie at Alta and they became loving partners. Al supported Elaine throughout her illness, caring for her every need. Her family deeply appreciates the dedication he has shown to Elaine.
Elaine LOVED to ski, mostly Telemark style and her favorite place was Alta. When healthy, she also liked to ride her bicycle and hike and fly fish in the Uinta Mountains along the Mirror Lake highway. Al introduced Elaine to fly fishing after she expressed an interest.
Elaine is survived by her faithful partner Al Soucie, her daughter Hillary, her mother Ruth, and her siblings: Sandy (Frank) Campbell, Keith (Kathy) Gilley, Becky (Kurt) Allgaier, Bobbie (Jack) Elmer, and Deon Gilley. She was preceded in death by her father.
The family wishes to thank nurse Jamie Miller and other caring staff from Harmony Home Health & Hospice for their compassionate care. Due to the COVID-19 virus there will be no service at this time. In the future when group gathering is safe, a “Celebration of Life” will likely take place at Alta which was one of Elaine’s favorite places.
