Elaine Greer Tanner's Obituary
Elaine Greer Tanner was born March 11, 1929, in Victorville, California and
passed on March 7, 2026, in South Ogden, Utah at age 96.
Elaine was born to Nello W. Greer and Gladys Irwin Greer and grew up in St. Johns, Arizona. She completed her education at Brigham Young University, where she received her degree in teaching. Elaine taught school for many years in California, shaping the lives of many students with dedication, kindness, and a love of learning.
Elaine met Alexis Malan Tanner in San Bernardino, California and they were married on June 13, 1952, in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life she carried her faith and values into every aspect of her family and work.
She is preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her brother Harvey Stansell Greer. Elaine and Alexis were blessed with seven children who brought her immeasurable joy. Her children are: Alexis and Lorraine Tanner; Bronwyn (deceased) and Michael Frederick (deceased); Nello and Debra Tanner; Patrick and Jolene Tanner; Gwendolyn and Philip Cannell; John and Tracy Tanner; Barney and Jennifer Tanner. She also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her deeply.
Elaine enjoyed swimming, reading, crocheting, arts and crafts, card games, music, dance, attending the theater and gardening. Her warmth, generosity and vibrant spirit touched all who knew her.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in South Weber, Utah. Viewing begins at 9:00 a.m., with the service following at 10:00 a.m. The service will take place at: 2620 East 8200 South, South Weber, Utah 84405.
Internment will take place on May 15, 2026, at Riverside National Cemetery
in California.
