Elinore Reid's Obituary
Elinore Reid was born Betty Lou Elinore Smith on April 15th, 1939 in Salem Oregon. She was the second child of Francis Hathaway Smith and Wilma Irene Ellis, with an older sister, Arlene. A younger brother Franky followed, but sadly, he only lived a few months. When Elinore was around ten years old, the family moved to Longview Washngton. There, her father built them a house next door to a small church.
It was at her older sisters wedding that she met her new brother-in-laws older brother, Ronald Reid. She was definitely interested, but it took her more than two years to talk her sister into setting her up with the quite, reserved Ron. After that first date, more followed and three months later, they were married.
Elinore had a wide variety of interests. Music was important to her and she sang in groups in the little church next door. She was an avid reader and loved learning new things. Some of her interests were gardening, herbal medicines and raising farm animals. She enjoyed hobbies like knitting, crochet, sewing, tatting, pottery and eventually teaching them to her daughters.
Elinore was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, her parents and her brother and sister and one grandchild. She will be missed by her 6 children, Theresa Burraston (Kurt), Cathleen Burgess (Don), April Williams (Ray), Dale Reid (Karen), Laura Wheeler (Kevin) and Rebecca Trebilcock. She was blessed with 35 grandchildren, and somewhere around 35 greatgrandchildren (this number continues to grow!)
