Elizabeth Ann Young Arrington's Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Young Arrington, 91, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at Mission Health of Nephi in Nephi, Utah. She was born on February 5, 1935, in Richfield, Utah, the second child of George Howard Young and Lucille Allen.
Elizabeth married the love of her life, Edward Dean Arrington, Sr., on April 3, 1954. She always loved to tell everyone that they were married three times. Their grand love story began when they eloped to Las Vegas on April 3, 1954. Then, just two months later, on June 5, 1954, with only their parents aware that they had married previously, Ed and Elizabeth held a formal wedding ceremony at an LDS Stake Center in Huntington Park, California. This second wedding was to please Elizabeth’s grandmother, who had always wanted to share in her only granddaughter’s wedding. Three years later, on April 3, 1957, Ed and Elizabeth had their marriage sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ed and Elizabeth had seven children: Vicki (Burt) Fessler, Edward (Regan) Arrington, Jr., Linda (Kevin) McDonald, stillborn twins Dawn and Diana, and Robert and Martha, a natural brother and sister whom they took into their home as foster children in 1972 and adopted in 1977. In addition, Ed and Elizabeth have 16 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters. Grandchildren are Kristy (Fessler) Staker, Emily (Arrington) Frogley, Lindsay (Arrington) Condie, Stacey (Arrington) Leybas, Julie (Arrington) De Rurange, Edward David Arrington, Michael Warren Arrington, Steven William Arrington, Laura (McDonald) Sturm, Lacie (McDonald) Black, Brittni (McDonald) Hewitt, Briana (McDonald) Pugh, Dayan Lyle McDonald, Devin Edward McDonald, Amber Arrington, and Michael Charles Arrington.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Elizabeth and Ed served two LDS missions together. They first served a proselytizing mission in the Texas McAllen Mission from July 2006 until December 2007, then later a service mission at the Springville LDS Employment Center from March 2014 until Ed was released because his health prevented him from serving. Elizabeth continued to serve for another four years.
Elizabeth was a woman who knew her own mind. For many years, she was known to friends and family as “Liz.” However, in 1989, when she moved to Utah, she firmly decided that she wanted to be called by her full given name. “My name is Elizabeth,” she proudly stated, and that is exactly how she was addressed from that moment on. Then in March 2025, when she transitioned into a care facility, she playfully introduced herself to the staff as “Dizzy Lizzy”—a nickname she gave herself because she was always feeling a bit dizzy. So she was known again as Liz.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Vicki Fessler, Edward Arrington Jr., Linda McDonald, and Robert Arrington, and 16 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed, who passed in 2017, her twin baby girls Dawn and Diana, daughter Martha, her parents, and her brother, George Young.
The viewing will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Lehi LDS Church Building, 1020 E. 1900 N., Lehi, Utah. Following the viewing, a graveside service with a short program will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the Lehi City Cemetery, 1525 N. 600 E., Lehi, Utah, where she will be laid to rest at the side of her beloved husband, Edward Arrington Sr. All family and friends are welcome to attend the viewing and the graveside service.
