I remember Aunt Elizabeth staying at the big house with us, taking us on walks and swinging us in our back yard. Even wiping my face of dirt and tears from a fall off the teeter totter. I was very young.
Mostly I remember living with her and her family for almost a year just after high school. She and Uncle Larry helped me buy my first car. A 73 Plymouth Duster, sleek and fast. Made me feel so powerful.
One day, she saw my Diet Coke I had hidden up in my closet. She told me it was ok if I put them in the cooler, said she loved them but not to tell that to Marty. (my dad). She made me feel welcome and loved.
I loved her. I loved her family. It was my home. A very influential time in my life. My second daughter is named after her.
