Enrique Barrera Noriega's Obituary
Enrique Barrera Noriega was born on March 23rd 1974 in Mexico City, Mexico. Named after his father Enrique Barrera Bernal and born of Lilia Elvia Noriega Vazquez. Oldest son of three siblings. Known to us as Rick Barrera when he became a US Citizen. Rick was raised in Mexico City but moved with his family to Las Angeles California in the late 1980s at the age of 15. He quickly fell in love with the American culture and met his eternal companion Jacqueline Ramirez and married her on January 6, 1993 in Las Angeles, California, and were sealed for time and eternity on September 11th, 2004 in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple. They had five wonderful children, Ashley, Chelsey, Melody, Jared and Anakin Barrera.
A true Star Wars fan, Rick loved the Jedi philosophy and was a enthusiast of the 80s and 90s action movies like Rocky and Terminator. He graduated from High school and dabbled in collage studies. Rick was an entrepreneur and was nicked named as “The businessman” as some called him. He was good at retailing products and traveled to the republic of China in search of new providers and business opportunities.
Rick will be remembered for his Halloween decorations and his devil, may care attitude. Loving, kind and at times irritable and grumpy but always helpful and a wise advisor, he loved to be prepared for what ever the future departed. Rick thought us to live well, laugh often, and to love much. Everybody who came in contact with Rick, could not avoid rubbing off some of Rick’s cheerful attitude. Member of the Church of JesusChrist of Latter Day Saints, Rick loved Church history and would often share his knowledge of the restored gospel.
For me, my brother was a mentor and I looked up to him, he would take so much care of me in his own way, but I am very blessed to have him as my older brother, who I love so deeply and these days have been difficult for me and my family but our trust in God’s will helps us to heal our despair, and the knowledge rooted in the the sealing power of the temple ordinances through our Lord and redeemer Jesus Christ binds our love to Rick and to our Heavenly Father.
Our loss can seem unbearable, but through our faith in the Savior JesusChrist, we find comfort and spiritual strength as we understand our Heavenly father’s Plan of happiness and realize that because of Christ we will all resurrect and can be reunited as families if and when he hold true to our covenants with him.
Mateo 25:21
We don’t say goodbye, we only say until we meet again Rick, hasta vernos con el Rey…
“And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up” D&C 84:88
