Eric Duane Bingham's Obituary
Eric Duane Bingham, 57, of Elk Ridge, Utah, passed away at home surrounded by his family, on
February 24, 2024, after a valiant 10-month battle with cancer.
Eric was born February 17, 1967, to Bruce Duane and Dawn Gibb (Brashear) Bingham in Provo, Utah. He spent his childhood in Iowa City, Iowa and Boise, Idaho.
After graduating from Capital High School in Boise, Idaho, in May 1985, he went to one semester of college at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. Eric then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Akron, Ohio mission. He met many wonderful people during this time who influenced his life and who he kept in touch with for many years. After returning home from his mission, he went to Provo, Utah to study several majors at Brigham Young University. He was interested in so many things, it was hard to pick just one. He graduated in Sociology, just to get out and get on with his life. After graduation, he worked at Covey Leadership Center. He left Covey when they merged with Franklin Planner and started a
long Real Estate career. He enjoyed many longtime friendships with clients, co-workers, and friends in the Real Estate and Mortgage industry.
In 1982, Eric met Marianne Young in the 9th grade at Fairmont Jr. High. They graduated together but didn’t date until after his mission. He reconnected with Marianne in the fall of 1990 in Provo, Utah. They started dating in October 1990 and wed on May 24, 1991, going on to have 6 children and adopting 1, Michael Brian, Brandon Duane (Kristi), Jacob Ammon, Parker Matthew (Tarin), Nathan Marvin, Amanda Belle and Makayla Anne.
Eric was blessed with many friends and teachers who impacted his life for the better. He had a love of learning, especially gospel related subjects. He always had a love for baseball and basketball and enjoyed playing on the High School and church teams. He was a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan. He was able to attend the World Series in 1999 when the Braves were playing the Yankees.
He enjoyed scouting and camping in his youth, attending the National Scout Jamboree in Virginia and Philmont in New Mexico, as well as many local scout camps. His favorite calling in the church was Scout Master during the time each of his boys were in the scouting program. Some of his favorite scout trips were to Yellowstone, Lake Powell, Moab, Palisades, Klondike, and Maple Dell. He loved coaching his boys in baseball and being involved in their many sports activities. A highlight was going to a 12 yr. old tournament with his son, Nate, to Cooperstown, NY, and visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame. Another highlight of his life was being able to fly with his son Brandon, as the pilot, of a small Mooney plane. This happened less than two weeks before his passing.
He remained a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints his whole life.
He enjoyed working as an ordinance worker at the Payson Utah Temple.
Eric was predeceased by his brother, Nathan and his father, Bruce Duane. Eric is survived by his mother, Dawn, siblings, Shawnette, Nicole, Heather, Adam, Clint, Melanie, Tiffany, and Denielle.
