Eric Kelly Roberts' Obituary
Eric Kelly Roberts
December 5, 1969 – June 24, 2025
Eric Kelly Roberts was born on December 5, 1969, in Pasadena, Texas, and passed away on June 24, 2025, in West Valley, Utah, following a lifelong battle with mental health challenges.
Eric was raised in East Texas and graduated from Corrigan-Camden High School in 1988. He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Los Angeles Mission, where he taught the gospel in Spanish. After his mission, Eric moved to Utah and pursued higher education. He attended Utah Valley Community College (now Utah Valley University), where he earned an Associate’s Degree. He then transferred to Brigham Young University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English. During this time, he was employed at McDonald’s, where he met his future wife, Trichelle Evans. Though the two later divorced, they were blessed with four children: Tyler, Alexis, Olivia, and Abigail.
Eric had a deep love for literature and could often be found engrossed in a book when not enjoying his favorite television programs. He was a gifted writer and found a meaningful outlet in writing poetry, often using it to express thoughts and emotions he found difficult to share otherwise. He had a fondness for his beloved dog Simba II, watermelon-flavored gum, LiveWire Mountain Dew, and the character Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. Though his journey on earth ended too soon, we honor the strength he showed in the face of darkness.
Eric is survived by his former wife Trichelle Roberts, his children: Tyler Roberts (Kiri), Alexis Roberts, Olivia Roberts, and Abigail Roberts; his granddaughters, Emberly and Hadley Roberts; and his unborn grandson, Caspian Roberts, expected in August 2025. He is also survived by his brothers, Tracy Roberts (LaVieve) and Joseph Roberts (Kayla), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Roberts Sr. and Karen Ann Olsen Roberts; his brothers, Robert Roberts Jr. and Dale Roberts; and his sisters, Jeanne Roberts and Valerie James.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Prairie Stake Center, located at 5360 W. 7000 S., West Jordan, Utah 84081.
