Esther Louise Honeycutt Smith's Obituary
Esther Louise Smith (Honeycutt), age 43, passed away unexpectedly of unknown causes in her home in the early morning hours in Spring, Texas on Saturday, May 28, 2022. She died just shy of her 44th birthday. Her family feels heartbroken with a tremendous loss. Although it is impossible to not be saddened Esther would want us to be happy as we continue our lives.
She was born June 5, 1978 in her Burien, Washington family home like many of her siblings. She was the sixth of twelve children and daughter of Loren Talmage Jr. and Patricia Louise Honeycutt. Esther grew up in Burien then attended and graduated from Highline High School in June of 1996.
While in high school, she took the daycare class that was offered as she had a love for children and family. She enjoyed this and even babysat for her teacher’s children. Her teacher, Tracey Washington, even praised Esther for what a great help she was according to her sisters. One or more sisters even entered the program as well from her example and felt they had big shoes to fill for the role model that Esther was in this respect.
Esther eventually moved out to Ogden, Utah to begin her adult journey. She enjoyed life, worked, married, raised children and created many memories and experiences with family and friends. Many of the family had now moved to Utah from Washington and Esther had followed that path too. Her home was always open and welcomed everyone. She worked hard and set goals for herself that always pushed her to be better.
She married Jeffrey Lorin Smith on May 30, 2014, in Layton, Utah. They would have celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary two days later. She loved her husband very much and was sealed to Jeffrey in the Ogden Utah Temple in June of 2016. Her previous marriage ended amicably to Travis Widdison in 2013.
Her greatest achievement was her children. She loved them so much and devoted herself to them. From the moment she became a mom with Ethan, she had him with her wherever she went. It was always Esther and Ethan, as an extension of her. People often commented how cute he was, and she adored him from baby to adulthood. Whenever you were with Esther, she was smiling brightly with each one of her children. Hailey was a princess for Esther, she loved giving her toys to make her feel like royalty. She was her mini-me growing up. Esther and Hailey talked nearly daily to one another even as she became an adult. Then years later with Jeffrey, Kylee came. In fact, when Jeffrey and Esther married, she had deeply desired another child. She had felt there was one more child to be, and it was so important to her. When Kylee came into the world, she blossomed with joy and felt her family was complete. From the beginning, even up unto the end, she willingly and gladly sacrificed for her children. She tended to their needs and wanted their happiness in all she did.
Family time was always important; she enjoyed going camping and trips to Bear Lake. There were so many things Esther loved. Her life was love. She was a real light around others beaming with kindness, hope, empathy, and compassion. She was good-natured as some would say down to earth and real. When around others she was smiling, full of laughter and happiness. Everyone loved Esther.
Esther, Jeffrey, and kids had moved to Texas over the last year and a half. She most recently worked in the daycare of the Greengate Academy while her daughter Kylee attended the private kindergarten. To ensure Kylee was able to attend, Esther also cleaned homes in residences around the area she lived. Those she cleaned for admired her work and requested her services.
Esther is survived by her husband Jeffrey Lorin Smith, her children Ethan James Honeycutt, Hailey Marie Widdison and Kylee May Smith and her stepchildren Jason Alexander Smith, Jessica Renae Smith, Makayla (Paul) Huntsman, and Jacob Michael Smith.
She is also survived by her parents Loren Talmage Jr. and Patricia Louise Honeycutt, siblings Andrew Nolan (Iesha) Honeycutt, Naomi Carissa (Gary) Baird, Jeremy David (Marlene) Honeycutt, Rachel Ann (Rick) Jones, Sarah Jane (Tom) Gonzales, Mary Juliana (Jim) Knowles, Rebekah Rose (Jon) Baird, Loren Talmage III (Beth) Honeycutt, Jonathan Daniel (Tressa) Honeycutt, Leah Elizabeth (DJ) Elliott, and Hannah Eve (Mitch) Daines.
She has many, many wonderful and special nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncles as well as friends of her children that called her mom! So many that we would fill up another page. As well as mentioning her wonderful father-in-law Lorin Smith and mother-in-law Cleone Smith and her brother and sister-in-laws! Everyone meant so much to her!
