I had the wonderful privilege of being Delbert and Marion's, grandpa and grandma Cook's 1st grandchild. I was 5-6 when uncle Gene graduated from high school. I loved to spend time on the farm in Willard as a child. One of my fondest memories of uncle Gene, is going out to "help" him milk the cows. I was an inquisitive child and I would start firing off questions while Gene was trying to get the cows to come into the milking barn and get them ready to be milked. Gene would try and answer my questions but I just kept asking him more questions. He'd finally loose patience with me and said "Marian you have to stop talking, I need it quiet to milk the cows"! I still loved spending time w/ him on the farm. I really loved my uncle Gene.
