Emy and all of Gene's family,
I had the opportunity to get to know Gene just after he moved into Carrington Court. I had heard his name mentioned in the branch and while jogging around the block I found a cell phone on the sidewalk on Redwood Road. I accessed the contacts and called one of them. He gave me Gene's name and I went right over to Gene's room and returned his phone. That started a two year relationship with Gene. We spent many hours together. I came to love Gene as a brother and as his Elder's Quorum President. He had a great sense of humor.
At his core he had a testimony of the Lord and loved each member of his family. He spoke of them often and wished many times that he could have done better. He was very hard on himself. I believe that having passed he will be with others that love him and will be able to help him be at peace and progress.
I will miss him but I'm glad that he is not in discomfort any more.
