So sorry to read about your mother's death. I was out of town in Ca. visiting my husbands mother. In case you don't know who i am. I'm Dolores Davis's daughter. Your Mother and mine were always good friends.I think they were related. Both were born in Downey. Moms maiden name was Hartvigsen. Sorry I missed the funeral. Dixie Shore
The last time I saw Grandma was on her 90th Birthday. The thing I regret most was not spending more time with her, I really wish I would have. With three kids it was always so hard. She met Brianna on her birthday, it was a very happy time. As I am sad about her passing, I try to think about the great time I had with her over the years. She was a great lady, and will be missed greatly. Love you Grandma
Gary, I was saddened to read of the passing of your mother. It has been such a long time since we were neighbors on 2400 South. You were good neighbors and my mother loved yours. I know you know she is in a wonderful place and with Karen. Gary
The thought that comes to my mind right now is how much better things are where Grandma is now. This world is often full of darkness, confusion, and misunderstandings. In 1 Corinthians 13:12, Paul writes this: "Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." One of the great things to come in the kingdom is the removal of all doubts, fears and misunderstandings. We will see God clearly and know Him fully. We will also see each other clearly, and know each other fully. Just imagine the depth of relationships with all sin removed! I am comforted to think of Grandma seeing God face to face, and knowing her savior far better than this life allows. I look forward to seeing her there!
I really regret not getting over there one of these past summers. We always meant to re-do that trip, but it is so difficult getting the time and the kids are such a pain on trips. So "one of these days" became "never". One thing I'll share - a pretty good memory: Around Easter of 1999 when we were still living in California Tammy, Alex, and I went to Pine Mountain. Grandma was there and was really happy to meet her newest great-grandson - about 8 months old at that time. She was walking around the big room at Pine Mountain with Alex - tossing him up in the air and catching him and he thought that was great. Tammy and I were... really scared. As in "oh no she is going to drop him!". But we didn't say anything and he didn't get dropped - not even close.
The Sunshine of Tomorrow

Through the years I have sent Grandma a variety of little notes, updates, or gifts. It was always nice for me that I knew she would write back...and she always did. It made me feel like what I had to say meant a lot to her. A few years after we became Christians, I had written a collection of poetry and had sent it to her. She referred to it often for years later and encouraged me to write more. Things like that encouraged me in my faith at many times, especially when times were tough or there were various trials going on. It amazed me that as she got older and had more difficulty with hearing, eyesight, etc., that she never failed to send a birthday card, reponse to a note or thank-you note...still keeping me up to date with her life. I received one just about a month ago and I remember thinking, "If I live to be her age there's no way anyone would even be able to READ my handwriting!" It meant a lot, just knowing that she cared enough to respond. I'll miss that...but I also know that all of those moments are stored up in heaven...and even more.
