Evan Bruce O'Dell's Obituary
Evan Bruce O’Dell passed away on July 3, 2026 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah following a traumatic brain injury sustained in an accident at his home. Because he elected to be an organ donor, his tragic death heroically extended and enhanced the lives of many other people.
Evan was born September 21, 1982. He grew up in San Diego, California, Mesa, Arizona, and Show Low, Arizona before moving to American Fork, Utah in high school.
Evan enjoyed working and playing outdoors. For several years, he installed fiber optic cable in multiple states. He had an aptitude for numbers and a photographic memory for fiber optic color sequences, electronics, sports statistics, and geographic locations. He embraced technology and quickly adapted to innovations and circumstances.
Evan was quietly devoted to his family, especially his son, Bryton, his beloved mother, Beverly, and sister, Erin, and his nieces, Brynlee and Bailey. His sense of humor and generosity greatly blessed others. He was a steady source of strength and comfort to all who knew him and maintained many friendships throughout his life. He also had a soft spot for a long line of Yorkshire terriers, who adored him.
Evan loved being in the mountains and traveling. He enjoyed Jeeping, playing video games, grilling and smoking meat, savoring hot sauces, and eating banana cream pie. He also liked local diners, Texas BBQ, and great Mexican food.
The family wishes to thank the superlative clinical team at Utah Valley Hospital and Donor Connect for their compassion and professionalism at a very difficult time.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Evan’s life at an informal gathering on Sunday, July 19th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Mitchell Hollow, 6400 W 10250 N, in Highland, Utah. Casual dress.
