Evelyn Joy Blake's Obituary
We lost the matriarch of the Blake family in the early morning hours of November 1, 2022 with the passing of Evelyn Joy Blake. Evelyn left this world quietly and peacefully where her best friend, Olivia the Cat, watched as the angels took her home.
She had an exemplary life of 90 years being born on July 7th, 1932 to Arthur Floyd Curl and Mary Alma (Wilson) Curl in Tyndall, South Dakota. Evelyn was the youngest of 5 children. She married William Robert Blake in 1950 and had 2 sons, Robert Eugene (Colette Jelineo) and Randall Evan (Colleen Sullivan) and a beautiful step-daughter, Sherry Lynn (Norman) Yanacheak.
Evelyn always spoke her mind, she was generous beyond belief and loved animals, with Animal Planet being her favorite TV show! There wasn't a charity she could refuse. She lived the life she wanted, she was strong, and courageous, outspoken and kind, loved square dancing, sketching, and was an excellent watercolorist, she earned a black belt in Tai Chi had and a razor-sharp sense of humor.
Evelyn had the title of "grandma" to 9, "great grandma" to 18, all of whom will carry on with bright smiles in her honor.
She was an amazing woman and a fantastic Mother who was loved by almost everyone she met. Her bright, beautiful smile will be missed. May her light shine on the world always.
As I once read "Joy in one's heart and some laughter on one's lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life." (Hugh Sidney). And that she did! She was loved.
The Blake family would like to thank the nurses from Harmony Home Health and Hospice for such wonderful care.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 12th, 1:00 pm at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 So., Millcreek, Utah. In lieu of flowers, Evelyn would have loved a donation to the Utah Animal Advocacy, where Olivia lived before being adopted by Evelyn.
