Throughout his mortal journey, Filiga exemplified his commitment as a devoted Priesthood holder. His selfless service knew no bounds, as he sacrificed personal resources and dedicated countless hours to fulfill various callings within the Church. His impact as a shepherd for the Lord rippled through the lives he touched, leaving an indelible mark of love, compassion, and spiritual guidance.
Beyond his spiritual endeavors, Filiga was a beacon of love for his grandchildren. His bond with them was a testament to the unmatched affection he showered upon his family. His enduring union with his beloved wife, Rapunzel Tanuvasa Moemai, solemnized their eternal sealing in the Los Angeles Temple in 1981, stands as a poignant symbol of their eternal love and commitment.
Originally hailing from California, Filiga's journey led him to Utah, where he established a home and community. An avid basketball enthusiast, he earned the endearing moniker "Kobe" among those who shared the court with him in his younger years for being a passionate fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. His passion for the sport not only brought him personal joy but also forged enduring bonds of fellowship and friendship that persisted throughout his life.
Survived by his devoted wife and their four children—Mulek(Nicole), Filiga Jr, Suvinia Seufale(Paogo), and Lefafao—Filiga Sr's legacy finds resonance in the lives of his grandchildren: Gavin, Isaiah, Aniya, Kalaea, Makai, Isley, Jayce, and Tehya.
To honor and cherish his remarkable life, services will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at 12:00 pm, located at 1625 South Slate Canyon Dr., Provo, Utah 84606. May his soul find eternal peace, and may the memories of his profound love and influence continue to illuminate the lives of all who were fortunate to know and love him.
