1927 - 2017
Fonda Fairbanks died at the age of 90 on June 26, 2017 due to incidents of age. She was born March 12, 1927 in Salina, Utah to Adella Allen and Heber C. Williams. She married Richard Smith Fairbanks in the Salt Lake City Temple on October 25, 1945. She and Richard have three children, 16 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children Craig (Mary), R. Dana (Linda), and Gina. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters, brother, and grandson, Steven.
Fonda had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1963 to 1975. She served in the Jordan River Temple and in many church callings throughout her life.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and remembered all the many birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. Christmas Eve was always special at Grandma’s house with her homemade carrot pudding and mincemeat pies.
As the first woman elected to the Sandy City Council, Fonda served from 1984 to 1988. She held an active interest in politics and current events throughout her life. Fonda was a breast cancer survivor, living for more than thirty years after treatment. She loved dogs, enjoyed singing, traveling, reading, and watching classic movie musicals.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the Mesa Park Ward, 8945 South 1700 East Sandy, UT with the viewing prior to the service, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. Services in the care of Premier Funeral Services.
