Forrest John Webb's Obituary
Forrest John Webb, age 48, peacefully passed away on July 15, 2023 in West Valley City, UT after a two-and-a-half year battle with esophageal cancer. A cherished husband, father, son, uncle and friend, Forrest fought his diagnosis with courage, strength and positivity.
Born in Roosevelt, Utah on February 12, 1975, Forrest was the cherished son of Gene and Patricia Webb. Forrest grew up in Washington, Utah and attended Pineview High School. During his teen years, he discovered his love of music, pole vaulting, classic cars and hot rods.
He attended Dixie College and Utah State University. It was at Dixie College where he met Rebecca Alsop, who became his eternal companion in the Salt Lake Temple on June 11, 1998. They were blessed when their son Carter was born after many years of anticipation, enriching their eternal family.
A talented aviator, Forrest served as a pilot instructor during his time at Utah State University. His passion for teaching was equaled only by his love of flying. He graduated from USU with a degree in Flight Technology. His professional life took flight with several airlines, always embracing the joy of being a pilot. He loved flying around the country, trying new foods and striking up genuine conversations with everyone he met. He enjoyed sharing stories of his travels and told the best stories about his flying adventures.
Forrest's talents and hobbies were diverse, including a deep understanding of computers, studying other languages, and car restoration. His ability to simplify complex concepts was just one of his many talents. He spent many years re-building a 1950 Chevy Panel Delivery and was thrilled when he won 1st place in the 1950s Custom Truck category in the Hurricane Easter Car Show. Alongside his father, he restored a classic Ford T-Bucket from the chassis up, with a hand in everything from welding and cutting, to painting and upholstery. It was an achievement they both treasured. Forrest had a knack for home repairs, fixing cars and computers and freely shared his talents with those in need. He strove to leave a positive impact on everyone he met. His sense of humor and encyclopedic collection of dad jokes was something we will always remember.
Forrest was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ was unwavering and deeply inspiring. He served a mission in Guayaquil, Ecuador where he learned to speak Spanish, which he enthusiastically used throughout his life. Forrest served in many callings at ward and stake levels. He cherished his time spent searching gospel truths in the scriptures. His knowledge of gospel doctrine was profound, and he loved sharing his insights with others.
Forrest will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Rebecca, son Carter (14), father Gene Webb, brothers Adam (Karin), Dave (Stacee), in-laws David and Peggy Alsop, brother-in-law Brandon, sisters-in-law Camille Dimond (Travis), Nicole Echols (Shawn) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
