Frances Ann Mathisen's Obituary
Frances Ann Connor Mathisen passed away at her home in the early morning hours of Monday January 16th, 2017 from Breast Cancer.
Frances came into this world on June 28th, 1939 in Winfield, Louisiana. She was the middle child of 9 children. Her parents, Velvert Arvia Connor Sr. and Helen Loberta Connor packed all they could, along with seven of their nine children (two were still waiting to be born), and Helens mother into their Studebaker and moved the entire crew from Winfield to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1953, shortly after their conversion to Mormonism.
Fran's husband of forty two years, Ferdinant (Fred) Andreas Mathisen III, passed away in March of 2001 and she was never able to replace his larger than life persona, quick wit, and multi-colored beard so she did not remarry.
Fran was one of only two living children. Her siblings Velvert Arvia Connor Jr.,, Helen Loberta Youngblood, Allan Floyd Connor, Margorie Lee Youngblood, Ruthie May Arnovick, Stephen Edward Connor, and Charlotte Marie Haugan were already fishing on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. She is survived by her much younger and far better looking brother, David Oliver Connor (Uncle David did not pay for this... Wink, wink).
Frances Ann is also survived by her four children: Kathlene Leech, JR Mathisen (Laura), Nikki Ross (Paulette), and Matt Mathisen (Pauline). She was the proud Grandmother of 10 wonderful grandchildren, 1 of whom has beaten her to the pearly gates, 7 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild, and a beautiful white Pomeranian named Snowball.
Frances was an accomplished crochet Queen, with an incredibly artistic Embroidery background. She had an amazing love for all animals with a special place in heart for vicious exotic birds and woman's best friend... the dog!
Above all else was Fran's love and devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith in the LDS Church and the knowledge that she would be reunited with all of her family and friends (4-legged, 2-legged, and winged). We all feel at peace with the knowledge that Frances has been reunited with her Soulmate, Fred and is already making plans to take over Heaven.
We love and Miss you mom.... The Mathisen kids.
A Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Applegate Home Hospice for all of their hard work and kindness over these very difficult months.
