I had the privilege of being Phil's secretary at Vineyard Elementary. He was always supportive of what went on in the office. He was always there to give support to the parents and the teachers. He never put anyone down and always made you feel important. He had a smile and a caring personality. My son was in the sixth grade and said he was one of the best. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Mr. Armstrong was the principal of Vineyard Elementary when our oldest child began first grade. We were very nervous first time parents and went to visit the school before our daughter began her school year. Mr. Armstrong was so lovely to visit with us. He took time to walk us through what our daughter's educational experience would be like. 10 more of our children attended Vineyard Elementary and we always credit Mr. Armstrong for helping our family to begin a wonderful educational experience in the Alpine School District. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Olin and Janet Campbell had the blessing to have Phil as a neighbor, friend, and home teacher. In addition to regular visits with well prepared lessons, Phil spent hours on a clean up project at our house, just because he saw a need. While we were out of town, he cleaned out dead branches from under two huge Colorado blue spruces. Then he hauled the load away. Truly, this unexpected act of service exemplified who he was—a true Christian. We are blessed to know him and his amazing family.
Phil was very good at sports. When our family returned from Saudi Arabia it was fun to get involved with the stake adult teams playing volley ball. The coed ball was really fun and I loved playing with the women and men in our ward and stake.
Phil was an assistant principal long ago at Orchard Elementary when it became quite the fashion for the majority of teachers to wear professional dress until you got to our feet. Then we opted for Reeboks! The sneakers were great for adults who stood all day, and for volleyball on Fridays! When the children left on Fridays we could go down to the gym and take out a myriad and diverse array of stress triggers with a feisty game! When I read in Phil's obituary that he was a "danger" to those playing sports I had a moment to smile and remember Phil and the volleyball games! If Phil was on the opposing team one had to be sure all insurance premiums were paid! More than once I opted to be on the sidelines cheering rather than face a ball coming with great force from Phil's direction. I extend my condolences to his family and dear friends. I am remembering his smile and his vigor this morning. (I wonder if he already has a game getting started in heaven!)
We enjoy our time with Phil playing coed volleyball and softball..he was a dear friend..my hubby and he served the ym for years..We are so glad he is nor suffering anymore...until we meet again Phil..God bless your family
