Fred Robert Hatfield's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Fred Robert Hatfield, an exceptional individual who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. Fred, aged 81, succumbed to cancer, leaving behind a legacy of athleticism, courage, camaraderie, and a larger-than-life spirit.
Fred was born to Virdella and Arthur Hatfield in Springville, Utah, on December 1st, 1942. Fred's early years were marked by his passion for sports. As an outstanding athlete, he garnered numerous awards in track and field, basketball, and football. Fred's athletic prowess earned him a college football scholarship, a testament to his skill and dedication. However, he chose a different path and enlisted in the US Army, embarking on a journey that would become his own field of triumph.
Fred served his country during the Vietnam War, stationed primarily in Germany. His commitment to duty and service reflected his unwavering dedication to a cause greater than himself.
Fred, affectionately known as "4 guys" among his friends, was a large man in stature. He earned the nickname because he was, jokingly, the size of four normal-sized men. This moniker reflected not only his physical presence but also the magnitude of his heart and the space he occupied in the lives of those around him.
Throughout most of his career, Fred worked tirelessly for his brother at Doyle Hatfield Masonry. As a master brick mason and an outstanding jobsite superintendent, his craftsmanship and keen attention to detail left an indelible mark on structures that stand as enduring testaments to his dedication and skill.
Outside of his professional life, Fred found solace and joy in the company of friends. Whether camping beneath the starlit sky, hunting, fishing, or trapshooting at various competitions across the state, Fred cherished the moments spent with his companions. His love for nature and adventure mirrored his vibrant spirit and zest for life.
Fred Robert Hatfield is survived by the memories he created with family and friends. As we mourn his passing, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with achievements, camaraderie, and the enduring legacy of a remarkable man. May his soul find eternal peace, and may the memories of his vibrant life continue to inspire us all.
Fred is survived by his wife Lindsay, and by his four children: Damon (Jennifer) Hatfield of Spanish Fork, Utah; Robert (Kim) Hatfield of Mona, Utah; Richard (Julie) Hatfield of Mona, Utah; Rusti (Mike) Welch of Springville, and his brothers Doyle (Linda) Hatfield, and Blake (Verilyn) Hatfield and sisters Lorraine (Ross) Steffens, Marie Snelson, and Sharon (Ross) Vanleuven.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 9th at 11:00 am in the Springville 1st Ward Chapel located at 1250 S 400 E, Springville Utah.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations. All donations will go toward funeral costs and any remaining will be given to Fred’s spouse. Venmo @Robert-Hatfield-23
