Fred worked for me in the '80s in my newspaper advertising business. He was the best salesman we had . We camped out together in the Colorado mountains and we remained friends. He gave me his jerky recipe which I used to create a very successful business. We continued to be Facebook friends and just the other day realized I had not seen his comments for quite some time. Three days ago I wrote to him on FB with no response so today googled his name learning of his passing. He was so intelligent and clever.God bless him. May his memory be a blessing.

We will cherish our memories with Grandma and Grandpa Kaatz and our travels together around the world -- Costa Rica, France, Germany, and more. The kids loved singing and dancing while Grandpa Fred played his guitar and sang. He inspired my kids to pursue music as well. We will miss you so much Grandpa Fred.

I think back to when we first met Fred, and of all the great memories of their life together, raising their children, living in Homer, and traveling the world. All the while living with purpose a compassionate life, a life in Christ, loving and faithful to those they met along the way. Its no wonder he (they) have so many friends who think so highly of them. A life well lived, we'll miss you Fred, your birthday anniversary calls, your wonderful smile. I'm sure you are getting lots of hugs in heaven from all those who went before, welcoming you! Love and miss you so much!

My memory of Fred will always be of a cool adventurous black and white quick witty man, who loved Carol mightily and had a big warming smile. He and Carol came and saw me be sealed to my husband and 6mth old baby girl in the Perth Australian Temple. No doubt he will be busy with his continued missionary work on the other side. Till we meet again my friend 🕊️️

Fred's smile and laugh are contagious, He has a twinkle in his eyes and you wondered what he was up to. What new adventures was he thinking about, where was he going to find his next great deal? Fred is the type of person you would want for a brother, best friend, and confidant, and enjoyed his singing and guitar playing. He wrote a touching song about his brother. I can remember his mischievous smile when playing 5 Crowns. He was always there for his grandkids who have fond memories of him. Fred had a zest for life that was so wonderful to see. Such a can-do attitude carried him through many months of a disciplined diet.

When Fred and Carole were house sitting in Spennymoor,I was Investigating the Church, they both supported me and fed me and the Missionary Sisters. When I decided to be Baptized I asked Fred and Carole spoke too, it was very special and I will always remember their love, encouragement and Fred's Tackle s, which were awesome, never forgotten Brother Fred, Condolences to all his Dear Ones

We met Fred and Carol while serving a mission in New Zealand. They were house sitting. We so enjoyed his love of the Savior and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was never afraid to share his testimony. We loved to follow their adventures.. now he’s on one big adventure.. cheering on Carol. We love you both.. send hugs and prayers.. Scott and Teri Furniss
