Gale "Skip" LeRoy Walters' Obituary
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on August 25, 2012. He was born in Spokane, WA. He was raised by loving parents Charles Walters and Catherine Zornes. He married his sweetheart, Joan Carol Gibson on April 10, 1965, and they were later sealed in the Los Angeles temple. They were blessed with 4 wonderful children, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Skip loved life. His sense of humor was legendary. He enjoyed many hobbies including; golf, fishing, and basketball. Skip served many callings in the LDS church, including bishop, and teacher. His greatest enjoyment came from callings in which he could serve the youth, including teaching at the youth detention center. Skip helped change the lives of many youth with his kindness and wisdom. He also served in the United States Army. Skip worked at Lockheed Aircraft in California for 25 years, where he met his lovely wife. They then moved to Utah where they opened up and ran a local Provo business for 25 years, Valley Book Center. He is survived by his wife of 47 years; 4 children, Debbie Dodson, Ed (Lynda) Walters, Susan Bradford, and Sandy (Rich) Willis. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in law Richard Bradford, and a granddaughter Ashlyn Willis. The children want to thank their mother Joan for the tireless way she cared for our father all these years, and the great example of love she has always shown us. Joan would like to thank their many friends and neighbors who have been such a blessing to her and Skip. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 31, 11:00 am at the North Field LDS chapel, 105 West 1800 North, Pleasant Grove; with a visitation Thursday evening from 6-8 pm and again at 10:00-10:45 am prior to the service at the same location. Interment will be at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 500 North Main.
