Garrett Steven Wilcox's Obituary
Garrett Steven Wilcox our beautiful son, grandson, uncle, nephew and dear friend, age 30 passed from this world Thursday, January 29, 2015. He is the third son, forever the baby of Douglas and Claudia Wilcox. There are no words to describe the intense sadness and indescribable pain we feel. Our hearts are broken. We will forever grieve the loss of this remarkable young man. We know that Garrett's spirit lives on and he is now free from the ever pervasive bands of addiction which stole his life. No longer inhibited by the suffering of this mortal world nothing will interfere with Garrett's ability to fly and progress. Garrett was born and raised in the West Jordan and Taylorsville areas of Utah. He graduated from Taylorsville High School in 2002. He had a happy childhood with his brothers and many friends. He was never afraid of hard work. He could take a pile of dirt and with the heavy machinery he loved to operate transform it. He was a perfectionist and would not stop until his expectations were met. We are grateful to Kirby Justensen for Garrett's latest project. One of the high points of Garrett's life was serving the people in Guatemala with Kelly Sheppard, helping them become proficient in the English language Garrett was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We will miss Garrett's enormous smile and contagious laugh, his wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. He was a tease and always made us smile. He loved the outdoors and excelled at snowboarding and golf. He loved movies and the latest technologies. He had a tender heart, knew how to give the perfect gift, a sense of style and was wise beyond his years. He is survived by his parents Douglas and Claudia who never gave up and always provided refuge from the storms of life. His brothers Brett and Ryan (Stefanie), nephews Carson and Max and niece Bailey. Grandmother Molly Eldredge. Many aunts' uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his Grandfather Claude Eldredge, Grandfather Blaine Wilcox, Grandmother Genevieve Wilcox (who also passed away this month), cousins Brock and Chandra Karren, and dearest Aunts Kathy and Sharon. A graveside service will be held 12:00 Noon, Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Lehi Cemetery 1100 North 400 East, Lehi, Utah. In lieu of flowers donate to the LDS missionary fund or Primary Children's Medical Center, (801) 662-5959 in Garrett's name. Children are a gift. Hold them tight, no matter the age or circumstance. Until we meet again Garrett you're forever in our hearts.
