Garth Morrill Sorensen's Obituary
October 28, 1945 — November 9, 2025
Garth was born in Richfield, Utah on October 28, 1945 to Golda LaPreal Morrill and Vendal LeVoy Sorensen. He was the third of four children.
He grew up in a small town that only had 5,000 people at the time and attended Richfield High School. He played baseball, ran track and field, and took region twice in wrestling. He also excelled in auto mechanics. After high school, he joined the National Guard where he rose to the rank of Sergeant.
Garth met the love of his life, Nancy Ann Anderson (whom he always called “sweetheart”), when he was 18. They were married in Las Vegas on August 14,1965 and were later sealed in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on August 20, 1966.
Garth owned a gas and service station in Salt Lake City and was an auto mechanic for over 30 years. He loved 4-wheeling, spending time with his family, reading books, listening to music, and listening to LDS General Conference talks. He served in Scouting for many years. He was also a dedicated temple worker in the Salt Lake temple.
He was a longtime and beloved member of his community in Millcreek, Utah and the proud dad, grandpa and great-grandpa of a large family.
Garth Morrill Sorensen passed beyond the veil on November 9th 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Ann; their ten children: Scott, Eric, Marie (Edward), Paul, Melissa (Kenneth), Daniel (Andrea), Sarah (Sean), Curtis, Lori (Dale), and Moriah; his loving siblings, LeVoy and Valery; sixteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, with another on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved sister, Myrna. We know he is also joyfully reunited with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were called to heaven before birth.
The family would like to thank his surgical and care team at St. Marks Hospital and the many doctors and nurses that cared for Garth.
