Gary Lee Dewey

Ogden – Gary L. Dewey (76) - Our loving Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend drifted away, while at his home, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, after a second valiant battle with cancer.
Gary was born on February 25, 1944 in Ogden, Utah to John and Edith Dewey at the old Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital. He was raised in North Ogden, attending North Ogden Elementary, Wahlquist Junior High and graduated from Weber High School. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Chicago, Illinois Mission. Upon returning from his mission, he was inducted into the United States Army and eventually sent to Viet Nam. Besides being wounded (awarded Purple Heart) and exposed to Agent Orange, he returned home to a very different country, but with the help of his loving and supportive family, his nightmares gradually eased.
In the Spring of 1969, he met his soulmate, Maxine Dagsen. They were together from then on. They were married on December 26, 1969 in Elko, Nevada. In September 1970 they had a daughter Debra, and in August 1973, a son Kurtis. In September of 1981 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the old Ogden Temple. Maxine passed away on May 19, 2016. Throughout Gary’s life he loved God, his family and his country. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, puzzle books and playing Golf video games. He was always a family man and adored his grandkids and great-grandsons.
Surviving are his daughter, Debbie Aubuchon, son, Kurtis Dewey, seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. Also surviving are two sisters, JoAnne D. Parker, Christine D. Avondet (Paul), one brother, Bryan E. Dewey, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine, his parents, grandparents, one brother and sister-in-law John C. and JoAnne Dewey, three nephews and two nieces.
