Gary Michael Paul's Obituary
Gary Michael Paul
1962 - 2016
Gary Michael Paul, born December 10, 1962, kept his parents, Dixon and Carol Paul, and his sister Sue on their toes from the get go. Gary's spontaneity, incredible sense of humor, contagious laughter, and outgoing personality combined with his love of adventure and ability to push it right to the limit created a man that was easy to love and who could achieve anything he set his mind to.
In 1990, he set his mind on Regan. She admired his honesty, smirky grin, the glimmer in his eyes, and his witty, quick responses to everyday life. Gary could find the humor in ANY situation. They shared love, laughs, and a compassion for animals, especially dogs. Together, with Regan's son Brandon, they became a family.
Not only was Gary fun, but he was extremely intelligent. Gary learned quickly and was skilled in many trades. Friends and family often turned to him for advice and help with their vehicles. Brandon was just four when he met Gary. During their final visit to the cabin, Brandon remarked on how much he learned from Gary.
In 1994, Gary's heart grew more than he knew it could when he and Regan had Courtney, a six pound redhead who proved to be just as tenacious, witty, and strong as her daddy. Gary often talked of his favorite memory--the first time Courtney wrapped her little hand around his finger. Little did he know he'd be wrapped around her finger for the rest of his life.
Courtney and Seth made Gary a grandpa in 2014. Gary was so proud to be Bobby's grandpa, making a point to introduce Bobby to the nurses caring for Gary in the hospital. Bobby was proud of Grandpa too! He will grow up knowing his grandpa embraced life to the fullest, with excitement, courage, perseverance, a zest for life, and that sense of humor that drew people to him and allowed him to always laugh.
Gary learned he had metastatic cancer in September 2016. He faced the news with the same courage, strength, and tenacity that carried him through life. And he laughed and helped others laugh with his amazing sense of humor right up until he left on September 20, 2016. Now he is with Seth and the many animals he loved--keeping them on their toes.
Gary will be missed and never forgotten. We are so thankful for the memories, the laughter, and the love. Be good, Sweetie. We love you and miss you forever.
The family wishes to thank friends, family, Apria Healthcare, IMC, and especially IHC Hospice for their loving support during this difficult time.
