I had the privilege of gaining a brother when my sister married Gary. In the almost 40 years they have been together I’ve never seen a reason to believe they wouldn’t be together forever. To watch their love and loyalty to each other and their children was an honor. I’ve been the black sheep in our family my whole life, but, I have never doubted my brother in laws love for me and his sincerity in wanting the very best for me and my children who love him so much as well. He has stepped in to help whenever needed. My heart is broken for my nephew, nieces, their children and my sweet sister. But, I know he will be ever faithful watching over them as he always has been. We love you Gary. We will miss you til we see you again.

I loved working with Gary at Utah Valley Hospital intensive care unit. Intelligent, skilled, and positive, he made working in a stressful environment better a better place. During the difficult days of COVID with our intensive care unit expanded from 35 beds to over 50, he came to work every day with a smile on his face to meet the challenges of caring for the sickest of the sick. His patients appreciated his expertise and his good humor. Aptly named “Stone,” he was a rock. I love him and will miss him. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I was saddened to hear of Gary’s sudden passing. I had the pleasure of working with him for over 25 years and always found him passionate about patient care. A great team member always willing to reach out and help. He was an advocate in promoting best care and played an important role in advancing respiratory care at Utah Valley. The icu was a better place for all because of him.

I had the privilege of managing Gary for many years in the Respiratory Care Department, and during that time, I came to deeply admire and appreciate him. Gary lived his life with remarkable openness and sincerity—truly a man without guile or pretense. He was a dedicated and hardworking therapist who always strived to provide the best care for his patients. Hearing of his passing brought me great sadness. However, knowing his love for genealogy, I can only imagine the joy of his reunion with ancestors as he entered the Spirit World.
