Gene Stewart was one of the most dedicated, gentle, loving and "best" persons I've ever known. Whenever he took on a job or position he did it 110 percent. I know from personal experience. When we decided to build a new room onto our house, we couldn't afford and architect. After contemplating for some time, we thought of Gene. At first he was humble about his skills, and didn't know if he was "fitted" for that kind of job. When he agreed we were more than delighted. He drew up the plans and submitted them. The city approved them without question. They were exactly what we wanted. Everyday he was on the job site to make sure everything was going as planned. He and his sweet wife Sylvia are and were true to their values, strength and integrity. The stand as warriors in God's Kingdom.
Gene and the entire Stewart family are some of the greatest people I've ever had the privilege to know. I taught both of the boy, they were my aides as they passed through Joel P. Jenson Middle School.
I also looked forward to parent/teacher conferences when Gene and Cleo would come to hear me sing the boys' praises. Gene and Cleo did an amazing job of rearing those young men, and I loved to tell them so.
One of the things I remember most about the Stewarts were their kind hearts and ready smiles. I don't believe we ever spoke without laughing at least once.
The world has lost a great man, and I feel a personal loss at his passing. God bless the family who remain. I love you.
