Genevieve Pettit Francom's Obituary
Genevieve Pettit Francom
1923-2022
Our cherished and dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died October 8, 2022 at her home in the presence of loved ones.
Jenny was born January 1, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Archibald Newel Pettit and Genevieve Johnson Pettit. She was married to her eternal sweetheart Myron LeGrande Francom on November 14th, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised nine children and spent 60 wonderful years together before his passing in 2002. Their love and devotion to each other and their family increased as their children married and had children of their own. They were blessed with 51 grandchildren and at last count, 168 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
As a valiant member of the church, Jenny gratefully served in many callings. She spent many years serving in the Relief Society and other organizations. She blessed the lives of many through her genuine love and concern for each one she served. She truly radiated her love for the Savior to all in her presence.
She served in the Salt Lake Temple with her husband for over 25 years. When he was called as the President of the Philippines Manila Temple, she was set apart as the temple matron. They were so grateful to serve the humble, kind and faithful saints in that far away land.
Even when she grew old, she loved temple work and was grateful to attend the temple until her health wouldn’t permit her to go.
She loved the hymns of the church and could often be found playing the piano while softy singing their inspiring words. She was especially fond of the words and music of “If I Were a Shepherd.” Its words reflected her humility, faith and love for her Savior.
When family members called or visited, she would always express her gratitude for her many blessings. Regardless of the weather to her it was always “a beautiful day.” We will sorely miss her telling us “You are very special to me and I love you with all of my heart.” She was always upbeat and positive even while suffering physical pain which she patiently endured through many years. She believed in the power of prayer and testified that she knew Heavenly Father heard and answered her prayers.
She was a true disciple of Jesus Christ and loved and served Him with all of her heart, might, mind and strength throughout her long life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children Laura Parr (John), Myron L. Jr. Beverly), Mark Seth (Janice), Carolyn Joy Bradford (Kenneth), Michael A. (Lorna), Genevieve Wright (Steven), Stanford L. (Terry), Lois Smart and David B. (Carolyn). She is also survived by her two sisters Lyle Lyon and Rebecca Nelson.
