Geniel Margaret Dawes Pike's Obituary
Geniel Margaret Dawes Pike
Loving wife and mother, Geniel Margaret Dawes Pike, 72, of Orem, Utah, passed away at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo on July 11, 2019.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Arland Pike, and her daughter, Carrie Leilani Celeste Pike, who were at her side when she passed.
Other survivors include her brothers, Frank (Linda) Dawes, Midvale; and David (Carol) Dawes, now serving as a missionary couple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Dallas Texas Mission. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Jack Peck, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Those preceding her in death included her father, Curtis Wesley Dawes, and her mother, Margaret Leona Huish; brothers Curtis Monte Dawes, Howard Dawes, and Leon Dawes; a sister, Wanda Sellers; and a sister-in-law, Sherry Peck. Another sister, Laura Mae Dawes, died in infancy.
Geniel, born October 28, 1946, was the youngest child in her family. She is a graduate of Murray High School. She married Richard A. Pike in the Salt Lake Temple on March 14, 1969, and lived in Hawaii with him when he was stationed in Honolulu, where daughter Carrie was born in 1978. Richard is a Vietnam War-era Navy veteran.
Geniel was a hard worker all of her life. Over the years, her jobs included daycare, apartment managing, and production work. The production work was with companies such as Signetics in Orem, and Nature’s Way, an herbal health company. She excelled as an employee with her dependability and work ethic. Geniel and her family have faithfully served the community since 2006 by assembling and delivering various daily Utah newspapers, plus the Wall Street Journal. This work was accomplished day in and day out, despite adverse weather conditions or transportation issues.
Working in her garden and being around family and friends were her favorite pastimes. She loved her family very much, and would want them to be assured of that fact at this difficult time.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in the Sharon 6th Ward building — the Sharon Stake Center— located at 545 South 800 East in Orem. A viewing will be held at the same location at 9:30 a.m., just prior to the funeral. A family luncheon will be at the church after the service, then burial will take place at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park at Camp Williams, 17800 Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah. Funeral arrangements are through Premier Funeral Services, 1160 North 1200 West, Orem, Utah 84057.
