George Chester Chambers' Obituary
George Chester Chambers
9/16/1942 - 6/22/2021, Salt Lake City, Utah
Beloved husband, father, brother. Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children enjoying his patio and listening to the music he loved.
George is proceeded in death by his parents Donald and Marie Chambers.
George joined the US Navy in December 1961 to December 1967, where he traveled the world on the USS Forrestal as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam War. He loved traveling, seeing new places and trying new foods. After the Navy George lived in Washington working for Boeing, he then moved to Utah where he met his wife Judy in March of 1972. They got married on December 27, 1972, and started building a beautiful life and family. He battled many illnesses in his lifetime including 3 types of cancer which he beat and multiple other issues including COPD and kidney failure which he received the most amazing care from the VA hospital in Salt Lake thanks to the GI and renal clinics as well as his favorite Dr. Cindi Leech.
He was one of the strongest, smartest, most loyal men on earth. He was a mentor and a hero in all aspects of life, anything you could think to ask him he knew at least a little about it. He loved learning about everything and anything. There's not enough words that can really explain just who he was to so many people. He was a Dad to many people throughout the years and Papa to all the children. He loved his brothers and was so proud of them both. He loved his 3 children tough but fierce. He tried his hardest to always provide for his wife and family no matter the circumstances.
To his eldest daughter he was the gift of music and strength. They share many memories of traveling in dad's big rig with Judy and his cat snake, listening to music and seeing the country. Marci...dad thank you for the gift of music, and the strength to fight our battles every day with all that we have. You are our family hero, and I thank you for teaching me to fight for my life. Thank you for helping me raise my daughter Jasmine to be the best version of herself. I love you daddy and I'll carry you in my heart forever.
To his only son and namesake, he was tough but fair and always loyal. He pushed long and hard so that he could see his son grow into the man he knew he was. He never gave up on him and loved him unconditionally. Chester...dad my only regret is I'm sorry for the heartache and anger I caused you. I'm grateful you were here to see me find my beautiful wife Tricia and enjoy all the many laughs and smiles with my children Kohen and Sadiee. I will use every lesson you taught me to form my life and family, I love you.
To his youngest daughter he was the world, her daddy, best friend, mentor and hero. They were like 2 peas in a pod with many inside jokes, love of books and goofy sense of humor. Kristi...dad you'll never know just how much of my heart you held. I will miss you until the end of time!
Survived by his wife Judy, children Marci (Billy), George Chester (Tricia), Kristi (William), granddaughter Jasmine (Jamie), great grandchildren Tat'eeonna, Noah, Kohen and Sadiee to name a few, brothers Donald (Hideko), Leonard, many cousins, nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, as well as many others that considered him dad and Papa.
