Janet and family: I hope you are the right family I'm sending this to but if not know that I sympathize with you and your lose of a loved for so many years. I am Bill Bolte from Central City Nebr. and went with you and your husband looking for the grave site of your Great-Great Grandfather near Clarks Ne. Dear Demond Family,
It is with great sadness that I hear about Jerry's passing. He was an influential teacher and friend to me in my young teaching career. I remember that we taught across the hall from each other when the 9-11 attacks occurred. He politely came over and shared, "that whatever you have planned for today, won't be as important as what's on the TV right now." He was a great mentor and friend, and will be missed greatly.

I was sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I know he has been struggling for a few years but I guess we don't expect this until it hits home. He was such a great man and neighbor. We have many happy memories of doing our gardening etc together. He was a great teacher too. I still remember him teaching us of the meaning and significance of the Passover. Sorry for you loss and sorry I couldn't make it to the service. We have been ill here at home so maybe I can drop by sometime soon . Love to you Janet and your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Fortunate to have taught at Hillcrest with Jerry, I had great respect for him as a person and as a teacher. I remember particularly conversations with him about our shared passion for the environment. We always thought it would be fun to team teach a class in environmental science and literature. Sadly, that never happened, but I'll always remember what a kind man he was. May your fond memories of him bring you comfort as you deal with his loss.

Dear Demond Family,
I want to send my sincerest condolences to you for your loss. Mr. Demond was my IB Biology teacher in high school and was one of the best teachers I've ever had. He helped encourage a love of science in me that will stick with me for the rest of my life. He was so caring and supportive. I will never forget the concern he had for all of his students' well-being. As a student in a rigorous, sometimes overwhelming program, his calm, positive classroom provided a wonderful respite. I will be eternally grateful for his support, his positive influence and his mentor-ship. My family sends prayers of peace, love and gratitude to yours.

Mr. DeMond was my environmental science and AP Biology teacher. I am now an environmental educator at the Zoo, and he played a part in that by encouraging my interest in biology. He told me once that I shouldn't let school get in the way of my education - words I tried to live by in college, and that I repeated to my own students when I did my student teaching in biology at Jordan High School. I was able to stop in and see him once or twice before he retired, and it was nice to see him and let him know I was pursuing biology and education as my career. He is a great guy and will be missed.

Dear DeMond family,

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. DeMond. He was my IB Biology teacher and he served as an inspiration to me. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Biology and often think about the time spent in his classroom - a pivotal time that has provided direction for my life. He was a great mentor and friend. I only regret not reaching out to him in the 10 years since I have graduated from high school to let him know how influential he was in shaping my career and academic pursuits. You had a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. I know that families are eternal and you will see him again. Thank you for sharing him with me and all of his other students.
