Gerald Hughes Larsen, aka: Gerry, Ger
Gerry was born 5th of March 1938 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, to Chester Edward Larsen and Rosalin Simmons, who are both deceased. He was the first born of their five children. They lived some of their years in Salt Lake City, Utah, and some years in the Bay Area around San Francisco, California. They mostly lived in Twin Falls, Idaho where Gerry attended elementary, junior high, and high school. After high school, he attended the University of Idaho in Moscow where he received a bachelor’s degree in business.
Gerry married Janice Kay Cutting (living), and they had three children born to them: Jim, Connie, and Candie. They were married over 15 years. He married again to Carolyn Ward, and they had two children born to them: Jodi and Burke. They were married about ten years. While residing in Utah, and through the encouragement of his mother Rose, Gerry and Christy became good friends which blossomed into a romance. They were married on the 2nd of March 1984 in Bountiful, Davis, Utah at a friend’s home. They were married over forty years. They became the parents of Douglas, who was born a year later on Ger’s birthday. Christy had a son, Jason, from her previous marriage. Ger proudly took over the responsibility of being his father. He had 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Ger’s siblings are still living: Kent Larsen, John Larsen, Carollyn Larsen (Scott), and Susan Larsen (Johnson).
Most of Gerry’s occupations were in the Health Industry, mostly as an entrepreneur. He enjoyed teaching people about how to have better health, vitality, and longevity. He donated eight gallons of blood to the Red Cross to save lives.
Ger reached the rank of being a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Gerry served as an Usher for the Tabernacle on Temple Square for about ten years from 1974 to 1984. In 1993, he became a District Commissioner and Trainer in the Utah Lake District of the Boy Scouts of America.
Gerry served in various callings in a ward or stake unit for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; including: Elder’s Quorum President, Sunday School Teacher for Youth, Stake Mission President, High Priest Group Leader, and Assistant High Priest Group Leader. He also served in the Provo Temple for approximately nine years with his wife.
Gerry will be missed by all, and he holds a special place in our hearts. We are glad he is reunited with those who have gone before.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 am, friends and family can meet prior for a viewing at 9:00 am at 250 South 580 East. Santaquin, Utah. Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery.
