Geraldine Fullmer Adams' Obituary
Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Geraldine (Gerri) Fullmer Adams passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family. It was our honor to watch her choose joy through years of Alzheimer’s disease.
Gerri was born in Mapleton, Utah on March 29, 1935 to Clifford and Rebecca McKell Fullmer. Mom’s eyes would light up as she shared stories of growing up on her family farm in Mapleton. Working on the farm picking cherries and hoeing tomatoes with her siblings and going to the bathroom in an outhouse are some of her dearest memories. She told her children that she was raised in such a happy home, she didn’t realize they were poor.
Mom was a social butterfly and enjoyed her time at Springville High School, LDS Business College, and living in the Beehive House with dear friends. In September of 1956, she married Kent Jensen. They moved to Logan while he attended Utah State University. Together they had two children, Liz and Brad. After Kent’s untimely death, she married Max Adams in March 1961. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1965. They were blessed with three more children, Don, Deanna and Shaunie.
Our childhood was filled with recreation. Gerri was happiest playing beside her family. She loved deer hunting, camping in her trailer, watching and yelling at BYU sports, eating ice cream, card games, beach trips, fishing, boating, and motorcycle riding. Midvale was our family home and she loved being connected to her community there. She vainly loved her red hair and did not miss a weekly hair appointment. Mom enjoyed serving in many callings within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was passionate about our country and was involved with the election and voting process. She often said “You have no right to complain if you didn’t cast your vote.”
Mom’s grandchildren were her entire world. She made every grandchild and great-grandchild feel like they were her favorite. It was important to mom to support each of them in their passions. Gerri was always able to find the silver linings in life and a way to laugh at herself. She taught each of us to do the same. Gerri’s greatest legacy is the way she loved. Not a single part of her love was earned, it simply existed because we were hers.
Gerri is preceded in death by her husband Max Adams, parents Clifford and Rebecca Fullmer, her sisters Betty, LaVern, Jane, and her brother Sam. She is survived by her children Liz (Kelly) Burgon, Brad (Brandi) Adams, Don (Mario) Adams, Deanna (Jim) Jex, and Shaunie (Randy) Mendenhall, 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and brother Rodney Fullmer.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to mom's caregivers Nadine and Carla from Home Instead, Shelly from Aspire Hospice, and Cindy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the LDS church 1244 Chavez Drive, South Jordan, Utah at 12:00pm with a viewing prior to services at 10:00am. Interment at the Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 S 400 E, Springville, Utah.
