Geraldine Louise (Gomez) Fratangelo's Obituary
Geraldine Louise (Gomez) Fratangelo , of Salt Lake City, passed away Friday afternoon. Born on May 14, 1947, at her grandmother’s house in Copperfield, UT, to Tony Gomez and Cora (Oblea) Gomez. She spent her life in service to others, starting her career at Volunteers of America and retiring from her position as an eligibility specialist for the state of Utah. Gerry was active at her church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, SLC, UT, and served in several positions and committees there. She was giving of her time and self, treating everyone with a welcome hand, and a helpful spirit. She was the most giving person we’ve ever met and the most proud mom and grandma in the world. Her spirit and legacy live on through her family; children Joe and Sheri (Treasure Island, FL), Julie (Kammerer, PA), Anthony and Candice (West Valley City, UT), and Andrew and Jamie (Rancho Cucamonga, CA); grandson, James; sisters Vicky (Jim) and Lisa; niece Misty; nephew Erick; her beloved dog Rascal; her sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who have become family. Viewing and rosary will be held from 5pm-8pm Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church 715 West 300 North, SLC, UT 84116 (801)364-2019. Memorial mass will be held at noon on Friday, February 7, 2020. Burial ceremony following immediately at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 275 U Street, SLC, UT 84103 (801)355-2476. We will return to the church for a very Gerry-style luncheon in celebration of her life. Her only request was fried chicken and potato salad and said “if anyone wants anything else, they can bring it - like a potluck style.”
