Geraldine "Jerri" Love's Obituary
Jerri Love
5/23/1929 – 9/26/2017
Quick-witted through her final days, 88-year-old Geraldine (Jerri) Love, closed her mortal eyes on the crisp fall morning of September 26, 2017. It happened as she wished, in her own home with loved ones by her side.
Jerri was born to David Elmer Love and Ada Rula Worsencroft on May 23, 1929 in Salt Lake City. A graduate of South High School in 1948, she married John Harvey Hansen in the Salt Lake Temple Sept 3 of the same year. Together they had 5 children and divorced in 1969.
As the five-foot-tall matriarch of her family, she was dedicated and worked tirelessly. Jerri was strong, independent, practical and a fabulous cook. Her signature Caesar Salad will live on for generations.
Though she had no formal training she was a natural artist in any medium. She was equally at ease decorating, sculpting, painting and later writing. She penned and edited her life story in her final years. Jerri had a true passion for gardening. She loved reinventing outdoor spaces and had an impeccable eye for texture, balance and harmony. The Christmas décor at her home was never the same, but always masterful. She had a love of yard sales. Finding a treasure among the rabble was a morning well spent. Her small home was a reflection of her personality, humor and sophistication. She made a killer Sunday roast with all the trimmings. She deeply loved her children and they will forever love her.
Survived by her five children: Terrie Lee Sharp (Roger Sharp), David John Hansen, Thomas Ross Hansen (Angel), William Todd Hansen and Phillip Rodd Hansen (Kimberly). Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and multiple nieces and nephews.
Service location: LDS Church, 2702 E. EVERGREEN AVE. (3435 S.)
All are invited to pay respects on Monday, Oct 2, 2017 from 10am-11am. Services 11am-12pm. Interment SLC Cemetery.
