I did not know Gertrude but after my father died I found this letter from her. I think we may be related.
I have many good memories of times with Aunt Gert and Uncle Calvin and you children at the farm and in Pratt at Grandma and Grandpa Swindler's house. My heart grieves with you at your loss, but am confident that you are comforted by all the precious times you had with your mother. She had a kind and gentle spirit that always made me feel loved. I look forward to seeing her again in heaven. I love you all and ask God to hold you close and give you peace today and always.
Gertrude touched my life in so many ways while I was working as a caretaker at Canyon Creek. Just one smile from her melted my heart and my day always seemed to go so much better. She truly made an impact on me and I will miss her beautiful heart and smile. My heart goes out to her family.
