Gladys Guzman-Flores' Obituary
My mother, Gladys Guzman Flores, passed away after a fight with cancer; she was born on November 21 of 1951 in Oruro, Bolivia and died on November 20, 2021 in Layton, Utah. My mother was a courageous and sweet woman – holding fast to her beliefs, defending those she loved and always seeking to better herself.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, she had an unwavering testimony of Christ and his gospel, she held different callings throughout her life as Young Women leader, Sunday School teacher and in the Relief Society presidency of her ward in Bolivia.
She had a deep love for me and my brothers, and since very young, after she became a widow, my mother dedicated her life to raising us on her own. We, as her children, are eternally grateful for all her love and sacrifices and for when we were kids putting us always first before herself. We are who we are because of my mom.
My mother was preceded in death by her parents Roberto Guzman and Pura Zorrilla and her husband Rene Flores Puestas, and is survived by her children Rene Flores, Carlos Flores, Alex Flores and Gabriella Chavez Flores (spouse), Erika Morton and Derrick Morton (spouse) and her grandchildren in Bolivia Diane, Ethan and Mathew Flores and here in the US Maya and Nicole Morton.
My mom was very family oriented, she had a great love for her siblings, Rita, Lilian, Kathy, Fernando, Hugo, Daniel, Ricardo and Miriam Guzman.
Our beloved Mom wherever she is now, is free of the pain and sorrows of this world; “Mom, mom! Yes, you have arrived to your favorite place in the whole universe. And everyone that you have loved will be there, and you will be young again, you will run and jump again like you used to, and you will dance again like you used to dance. There is no more pain for you, just love and happiness; it's a beautiful home and it will last the eternity, a blissful eternity...
