Glen Alfred Defa's Obituary
Glen Defa died peacefully at age 64 from cancer. Glen was born February 7, 1952, to Alfred Defa and Dorothy Henline, and was raised on the family farm in Hunter, Utah. Glen graduated from Cyprus High School in 1970 where he lettered in basketball and track, won awards for his art, and made life-long friends. He was an Eagle Scout and officer in the CYO at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Glen was a founding member and first President of the ACF Car Club and went on to a successful career in the automotive industry.
Glen was a gentle man who loved family and friends. His gang hung tough and his family was always there during the good times and the bad. His artistic sensibilities and sensitive nature brought both joy and heartache. Though Glen struggled to find balance in the world and fought his share of battles the light remained in his soul. There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in. May the eternal light guide Glen home.
Glen married Hope Green in 1973, later divorced. He is survived by a son, Dustin Guy Defa; siblings, Steve, Guy and Julie; and Rick Hopkins who looked after Glen during his illness. He is also survived by six nephews and five nieces and former partner, Linda Ludlow. Predeceased by parents and brothers, Don (Butch) and Jeff. Thanks to Uintah Basin Hospice for care and support. We say goodbye to our father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend with love.
A celebration of Glen’s life will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Salt Lake Eagles Club, beginning at 6p.m. See you there.
