Gloria Ann Vorkink's Obituary
Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Gloria Vorkink, passed away June 6th, 2019, after surviving and battling several strokes. Gloria was born October 5, 1943 in Ephraim Utah to Beverly Sparks and Keith Mortensen. She married William “Bill” Vorkink on March 31st 1964, in the Manti, Utah Temple. Together, they raised 6 children.
Gloria attended Utah State University graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. One of her greatest joys was teaching in Utah and Alaska beginning in 1961. During her career, she received several awards for her excellence in teaching. Her greatest rewards were the relationships she created with the children, teachers, and staff.
Gloria’s deepest passion was her children and posterity. She loved spending time with family traveling, camping, playing games and Sunday dinners. She spent much of her life in the service of others- both through callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and through her personal interactions with those around her. She made her home welcoming to family, friends, and anyone in need.
Gloria is survived by her 6 children, Yvette (Tyler) Birkholz, Keith (Marcie) Vorkink, Lorrie Vorkink (Ben Philips), Jason Vorkink, Michael (Erin) Vorkink, Christina (Jaron) Coombs; 27 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 15th, 11:00am at the Hobble Creek Chapel: 950 S 1700 E Springville, Utah.
