Gorden Devere Jensen's Obituary
Gorden Devere Jensen, 92, of Roy, UT, passed away on November 5, 2024, following a sudden illness, surrounded by his family. Born in Garland, UT, on August 30, 1932, to Parry and Marjorie Jensen, Gorden lived a life rich with family, service, and accomplishment. Known to his high school buddies as “Booge,” he carried the memories of those friendships throughout his life.
Gorden graduated from Box Elder High School and continued his education at Utah State College and The University of Utah College of Pharmacy, where he served as president of his pharmacy class. He was a proud veteran, having served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army to defend Ladd Army Airfield in Alaska.
Gorden married Carole Call, with whom he had three sons—Scott, Bob, and Rusty. After their divorce, he later married Doris Bryan. Known for his love of jazz and big-band music, Gorden was a talented musician, playing the drums and teaching himself saxophone. He performed with the Utah State marching band. Gorden had a lifelong love of animals, and his faithful dog, Toot, was his constant companion, offering comfort and joy until the very end.
Known for his DIY spirit, he had an innate curiosity for how things worked. Gorden’s love for machinery wasn’t just a hobby; it was a passion. From motorcycles and snowmobiles to everyday tools, he enjoyed fixing, rebuilding, and understanding every part. He took great pride in building and maintaining things with his own hands, a trait admired by all who knew him. Gorden and Doris built a vacation home in Island Park from the ground up, and together, they traveled the world.
In his career, Gorden was a successful businessman. He owned and operated Mt. Ogden Pharmacy and Kwik Stop Drug Stores in Ogden, where he served his community until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris, his parents, and his siblings Farrell, Donna Lu, Marlene Kay, Sherilee Mae, and Bill Rowe. He was astonished to be the last survivor of his immediate family. Gorden is survived by his sons Gorden Scott Jensen (Elon), Robert Alan Jensen (Shawna), and Russell Todd Jensen (Lynelle); his ten grandchildren: Aubrey Evans, Bowen Jensen, Courtney Davis, Myken Jensen, Katelyn Heiner, Candice Burton, McCall Clark, Sam Jensen, Tara Miller, Tana Christensen, and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his first wife, Carole Call King.
Gorden will be remembered for his devotion to family, his dedication to his work, and the joy he found in life’s hands-on work and simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy will continue through his family and the countless lives he touched.
Gorden has requested there be no formal services.
