I know why he loved William Faulkner.
I remember when Gordon was going to Weber State to get his teaching license and he spent a week (a couple of hours each day) in my classroom at Clearfield High. It was so fun to have him there—learning from me. One day, in the middle of class, a lightning bolt struck the transformer and the backup generator and everything went completely dark—I taught in a classroom that had no natural light. I told my students, “No one move! Stay right where you are and I’ll get a flashlight out of my cabinet! Nobody move!” Once I got to the flashlight, I opened the door and managed to get all of the students safely out of the room so they could go home for the rest of the day. Once my adrenaline went down, Gordon looked at me and said, “Are you okay?” He was so sweet. I’ll never forget how much he cared about me and I knew he would be a great teacher because of that caring heart. He will be missed deeply. He was always my favorite.

A fun day in the Uinta mountains is always needed.

I want to share a wonderful but funny memory of Gordon asking me to marry him. We were driving on 201 not sure where we were heading, but Gordon had taken a teaching position in Winnemucca Nevada, and we were faced with what to do with our relationship, and he pulled over on the shoulder stopped the car and said he had a big question pertaining to our conversation, that is when he asked me to marry him. That was the best day ever.
Thank you so much Gordon, for asking me to be a part of your life, and for being my soulmate, my best friend, my husband, my sweet love, you live forever in my heart. I MISS YOU SO!
