Grant Alvin Evans' Obituary
Our brother Grant Alvin Evans passed away on March 20, 2024 after a valiant battle with cancer (melanoma) and other medical complications.
Grant was born on September 10, 1959 in Provo, Utah, the seventh of eight children of Dr. Woodrow E. and Ruth Udall Evans. In 1976, when Grant was sixteen years old, his mother died of cancer. Soon after, his father Woodrow married Beth Whitaker of Provo whose husband Scott Whitaker had also recently passed away. The Evans family refers to Beth as "Mom" and we are eternally thankful for the love she has showered upon us for nearly five decades.
Grant graduated from Provo High School in 1978. He attended Dixie College and graduated from Southern Utah State College. He spent his career in Hospitality, working for the United States National Parks in Bryce Canyon, the Florida Everglades and the Grand Canyon. During the past decade he worked at Deer Valley Resort as a concierge, and spent his summer months employed by Provo and Orem City Parks and Recreation.
Grant enjoyed skiing and hiking, loved attending concerts with friends and family, and owned an impressive music collection. He was an avid photographer, artist and poet. Much of his art centers on the American Southwest which he loved. His creations will live on in our family for generations.
Grant's survivors include his step-mother Beth Whitaker Evans, his siblings Paul K. Evans (Theone), Carol Janet Anderson (David), Raymond W. Evans (Susan), Noel J. Evans (Cheryl), Leah Kristina "Tina" Andrews (Kevin), his step-siblings Wendy Candland (Noel), Bonnie Whitaker, Thomas Whitaker (Linda), Douglas Whitaker (Valerie), Anne Law (Veryl) and Lisa Davis (John), and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Grant in death are his parents, his sister JoEllen Poulsen, his brother Kurt Udall Evans and his nephew Andrew Poulsen.
