Grover Louis Parson Jr.'s Obituary
Grover Louis Parson Jr. known by family and friends as “Lou” passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 5th, 2022. He was 94.
Lou was born November 21, 1927 in Flora, Louisiana to Sarah and Grover Parsons and was one of ten children.
At 17, he joined the Navy and served as an electrician aboard the USS Windham Bay. While he was stationed in Washington State, he was set up on a blind date with Anna Mae Ireland. The two fell in love and were married on December 11th, 1948. Their love stood the test of time as their marriage lasted over 72 years.
During their marriage, Lou and Ann would go on to raise two sons, David and Christopher. He worked as a communications engineer at General Telephone & Electronics for over 30 years until his retirement in 1982.
Over the course of his life that spanned almost an entire century, Lou lived through and accomplished much. He would tell you, however, that the most important day of his life was January 4th, 1954, the day that he dedicated his life to serving his God, Jehovah. Following the example of his wife Ann, who had become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1952. Lou knew he had found the truth, and symbolized this by water baptism. From then on, everything he did in life was guided by his loved for his God, love for his neighbors, and his promise to live by Bible principles, in addition to serving as a congregation elder for over 60 years, teaching and tenderly caring for those in need, he spent countless hours in the door-to-door work, sharing precious bible truths with his neighbors.
It is these bible truths that comforted him when he was preceded in death by his son Christopher, his wife Ann, and 7 of his siblings. He truly believed in the promise recorded in John 5:28-29 when Jesus said “the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” Because he knew he would see them again, he remained faithful until the end.
His faith, his integrity, and his self-sacrificing love for all, are the true legacy that Lou leaves to his family. He is survived by his son David (Wanda) Parsons, Susie Parsons, his 7 grandchildren, his 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Those who share the same faith that Lou maintained through the course of his life, are comforted by the same precious bible truths that promise of a time when they will see him again, in a paradise on earth.
There will be a memorial service for Lou on Saturday, September 24th at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom All of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 351 W. 7th St. Ogden, UT. 84404. The service will also be available via Zoom.
The family would like to give special thanks to Alisha Bahling and Simeon Kopischke for their care of Lou and the staff at Quality of Life Home Care.
