Mrs. P was my fifth grade teacher, and among other things, she always encouraged my love for reading. At the funeral today, I couldn't think of anything to say, But tonight,as I finished reading a favorite book of mine I found a quote that summarizes how I feel. "We are all the pieces of what we remember. We hold in ourselves the hopes and fears of those who love us. As long as there is love and memory, there is no true loss."
Thank you Mrs. P; may you rest in hope and rise in glory.

Mrs P. You were an amazing woman that had a heart of gold. You took this shy awkward girl and gave her the courage to stand up in front of her peers as the Queen of Troy in the Illiad and the Odessey and then again as I was to give an oral report on the American Indians. I gained a love of reading from listening to you read a Wrinkle in Time. I have taken the songs "Old Pompy is Dead" & "The Carousel Song" and taught them to my children around the camp fire. You will forever live in my thoughts.

She was a great teacher and human being. 25 years later, I use the song of the U.S. Presidents to navigate Ogden city and always have an answer for U.S. President in Scattegories. I understand countless literary references due to understanding The Iliad and The Odyssey. I have a reverence for the Office of President of the United States because she taught us that as we watched William Jefferson Clinton's Inauguration.

She treated me just as well when I saw her every summer in West Yellowstone, as she did daily in her classroom in the 5th grade.

Most importantly she taught me, and I believe and recite often that, "For every act there is a consequence. You choose the act, you choose the consequence. And, you are not free to alter that consequence."

I believe she will reap the consequences of touching and shaping countless young lives.

I love my dear friend. I got to teach her last 9 years w her. It was clear that she was teaching because she absolutely loved her job. Gwen is the type of person that you always end up feeling happier just by being in her presence. One of our last field trips together we were given a blank check to pay the place we were going to. The secretary said do not lose it, we assured her it is safe w us. Well on our bus ride to the aquarium, we unknowingly dropped it on the bus floor, When we arrived , a student said she had found the check on the bus floor. It had footprints all over it and was pretty beat up. We thanked the student and then we laughed and laughed. The same trip we also forgot to bring the students' lunches. To make light of the situation we both joked and said we were "dumb and dumber " which we kept as our little inside joke. I love you Gwen❤️

After reading all of the beautiful tributes to this truly wonderful daughter of our Father in Heaven, I am at a loss for words in expressing the amazing impact she had on my life in the short few months that she resided at the Country Pines Care Center. Even in the last hours of her life she was welcoming, cheerful, friendly, and faithful to her core beliefs.

I am amazed at how she faithfully attended her sacrament meeting every week, and even relief society activities, despite the need for special assistance from those around her. Furthermore, words cannot be expressed to pay tribute to her wonderful husband, Bill, and her daughter, Jackie, who would be waiting weekly for her to be brought into our congregational meeting arrangement so that they, along with her, might renew special covenants. My heart goes out to each of you of the family. I know the loss can be painful at times, but I know you will be lifted by the beautiful memories you have and the comfort of the eternal bond which you seek.

in honor of Gwendlyn.

Once, when we were sixth graders, My twin and I were quarreling during recess. Mrs. Peterson made us hold hands and walk around the soccer field until we made up. She taught our class about Homer's Odyssey and Pandora's box. She coached us through math, and helped us memorize the U.S. presidents. She was full of life, song, laughter, and most of all, a belief in us, her students. She understood that "a good teacher is like a candle-- it consumes itself to light the way for others." Thank you for giving of yourself, Mrs. Peterson. We'll miss you.

Mrs. P was my favorite teacher. I had her in both 4th and 5th grade. She let me do the display boards that were in the classroom. Her songs were our favorites. We sang about the presidents, the counties and another fun things. She was my favorite teacher. I remember her saying that only little lambs carry tails whenever we would tattle on someone. Because of this magical human... I can still recite the Presidents in order, recall the entire Gettysburg Address, tell the story of The Iiliad and the Odyssey, sing just about every John Denver song ever written and play the ukulele....

Gwendolyn was one of my fifth-grade teachers - my favourite, to be exact. She somehow managed to help me look forward to going to school. She knew exactly how to make her students feel valued, appreciated, wanted, and loved, and had a most engaging style of teaching.
One of my most favourite things she used to do was remind us to "justify our work" when we did math homework. She snapped her fingers and chanted that phrase (justify your work) with such zeal that we couldn't help but join her! She's left such an impression upon all the students that came into her classroom, and I am so grateful to have been taught by her.
Thanks for all you did, Mrs P. 'Til I see you again, keep on teaching.
