Harold E. Burrows
1920-2017
On December 13, 2017, in Orem, Utah, our loving father, and grandfather, Harold E Burrows returned to his Heavenly Father at the age of 97, and was reunited with the love of his life—his Fern.
Harold was born November 15, 1920, in Hatch, Utah, to James Bascom Burrow and Mary Ann (Hatch).
He married Fern Bradford on June 25, 1943, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 14, 1945. He always said it was love at first sight. They made their home in Provo, Utah, where they raised seven children. After retiring, they moved to Mt. Pleasant, Utah.
Harold loved spending time with his family at their property in Indianola, Utah. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with Miles and Ruby Bradford. He also enjoyed going to the movies, starting the annual water fight at family reunions, and of course - eating donuts. He was employed by J.C.Penney’s for 39 years, which he said wasn’t work—he had too much fun.
He served as bishop of the Provo 3rd ward for seven years, and served in many other capacities in the LDS Church.
During World War II, he served as an airplane mechanic with the 54th Armored Field Artillery Battalion with campaigns in Normandy, Ardennes, and Rhineland. He could tell you some amazing stories.
Harold is survived by his children: Mary Ann (Craig) Asmus, Karl (Donna) Burrows, Glenn (Mary) Burrows, Julie (Toby) Studer, Richard (Lisa) Burrows, Janice Burrows; 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and many of his nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, his 12 brothers and sisters and their spouses, his son Harold Miles, son-in-law Craig, and his grandson Milo.
Services will be held at the LDS Chapel at 1680 West 700 South in Lehi, Utah, at 11 A.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Interment will follow at the Provo City Cemetery at 1 P.M. A luncheon will be served at the church around 2:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, Harold requested donations to the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
