Harold Brent Evans' Obituary
Harold Brent Evans passed away in his 80th year, early on Sunday, August 25, 2024, as a result of illnesses he suffered from Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam in 1970, and a recent fall. He served in the U.S. Army as a scout dog handler. He loved his dog, Apache, who saved Brent’s life many times.
Born October 4, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Brent was the only son of Harold Lomax Evans and Marjorie Lillian Jenkins. He graduated from South High School where he ran track and attempted to play the clarinet, and from the University of Utah, majoring in engineering and then psychology. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1964 to 1966 in the Southwest British Mission. He met Christie Knight on a blind date. They were married November 18, 1977, in the Salt Lake City, Utah, Temple. They have lived together in love, and everything else, for nearly 47 years.
Brent worked as a systems analyst for the Williams Company for the majority of his career. He was honored to serve in the bishopric of the Taylorsville, Utah, 33rd Ward with Steve Allen, Kieth Cragun, Jerry Bennion, and Doug Steele. It was a wonderful time for our family. He served as an ordinance worker in the Provo, Utah, Temple for sixteen years, and loved his many friends there.
Brent's goal was to visit as many of our national parks as possible, to camp and to hike. He played a decent game of golf, was an excellent bowler and carpenter. Many summers he and Christie could be found observing the fastest cars in the world at Speed Week on the Bonneville Salt Flats. He practiced meditation and T’ai Chi.
Brent Evans was a kind, generous, and patient man. His sense of humor was a gift to all. We love him ~ we will miss him. He is survived by his wife, Christie; four brave and talented sons: Peter, Salt Lake City, Utah; Brad (Sioux), Acworth, Georgia; Carl, Heber City, Utah; Aaron, Heber City, Utah; and three delightful and brilliant grandchildren: Lillian Evans, Miles Evans, and Harold Evans. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister Patricia Evans Riley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 29th at the Heber East Stake Center, 2395 S. Mill Road, Heber City, UT. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 AM. The family expresses special thanks to the members of the Center Creek Ward, and Heber East Stake, Heber City, Utah.
