Harriet Sue Prescott's Obituary
Harriet Sue Prescott, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 6, 2025, at the age of 73. A dynamic and radiant presence in every room she entered, Harriet was a powerhouse of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished.
Born on January 24, 1952, to Harry and Barbara Hartlerode, Harriet lived her life with unmatched vitality, fierce determination, and a heart big enough to hold generations of her family in its embrace. Her legacy is carried forward by her loving and devoted husband, Steve Prescott; her sons, James (Carma), Jeff (Erica), and Robert (Shilo); her siblings, Don, Janet (Kurt) Lindeman, David (Marta) Hartlerode, Kathy Sudweeks, Rebecca (Ordelle) Kemp, and Jennifer (Drew) Christenson; and a growing family of 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren—each touched by her boundless warmth and spirited guidance.
Harriet's life was a tapestry of resilience, laughter, and generosity. Whether rallying those around her with unstoppable energy or offering quiet wisdom in moments that mattered most, Harriet never did anything halfway. She loved with her whole heart, gave with both hands, and stood as a pillar of strength to her family and community alike.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Paula; her mother, Barbara; her sister, Roberta “Birdie”; her brother, Larry; and her great-granddaughter, Lyndon—each loss she carried with grace and quiet resolve, holding their memory close even as she continued to live life fully.
Though her physical presence is gone, Harriet's spirit remains vividly alive in the stories we tell, the traditions we carry on, and the fierce, joyful way we continue to love each other—just as she taught us.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made in Harriet’s honor to a cause close to your heart, as she would have wanted nothing more than to keep goodness moving forward.
A celebration of her remarkable life will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Salt Lake, 460 W Century Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84123. All who knew and loved Harriet are welcome to attend, share memories, and honor a woman who will never be forgotten.
